A Mom Minute with Nadia Murdock of Nadia Murdock Fit

An honest conversation with Nadia Murdock, mindset and movement coach and founder of Nadia Murdock Fit, about building confidence, overcoming imposter syndrome, and creating a business that reflects your purpose.

Trusting Your Instincts, Even When It Feels Scary

One question I hear often in our community: How do you build something meaningful while staying true to yourself?

I sat down with Nadia Murdock, founder of Nadia Murdock Fit, a coaching business that blends mindset work with movement. Her journey is full of lessons on trusting instincts, leaning into challenges, and learning to show up confidently, both as a mom and an entrepreneur.

Nadia’s path started with a BA in psychology and a plan to pursue forensic psychology. After an internship, she realized that career path wasn’t for her. “I learned the importance of listening to myself,” she says. That insight would echo throughout her life, especially during her health challenges.

A Heart Murmur, Surgery, and the Power of Perseverance

Born with a heart murmur, Nadia couldn’t participate in sports growing up. During her senior year of high school, she underwent open-heart surgery, a moment that left her self-conscious about her scar and reshaped how she viewed herself and her body.

But Nadia also discovered resilience in the process. “While recovering, I learned that pushing myself, not just physically, but mentally, was defining who I wanted to be,” she says. That mindset would later become the foundation of her approach to fitness and coaching.

Fitness, Confidence, and Motivation

At first, Nadia approached fitness with the goal of meeting societal expectations. But she quickly realized that the real reward was the confidence and capability it gave her. Exercise became less about looking a certain way and more about knowing what she could achieve.

“That shift changed everything,” she shares. “It’s not about fitting in, it’s about showing up for yourself and trusting your own strength.”

Overcoming Imposter Syndrome and Expanding Her Vision

Launching her company was exciting, but Nadia admits she felt boxed in by the idea that she should focus solely on fitness. Imposter syndrome crept in, questions like Do I have the right certifications? Am I qualified to help others?

Instead of letting those fears stop her, Nadia leaned into her instincts and expanded her work to integrate mindset coaching with movement. “I wanted to help people in a more holistic way,” she says. “It’s about human connection and giving others the confidence to do what they want in life.”

Why This Conversation Matters

What stands out about Nadia’s story is the permission it gives all of us: permission to trust our instincts, to embrace our experiences, and to pursue what feels right even when it scares us.

Her journey is a reminder that confidence isn’t given, it’s built through perseverance, self-awareness, and the courage to do what matters to you.
